Knot Gray was founded by Juilee and Nidhi costume designers and stylists whose craft was forged in the fast-paced world of film and advertising. For over a decade, they built garments for characters to serve a story, movement and the frame.
Before it was a label, Knot Gray was a private practice. It was years of "breaking formulas" testing dyes, reworking failures, and observing how pigment settles into fiber. Through this hands-on experimentation, they pioneered a specialized ice-dyeing process rarely explored in India.
By embracing unpredictability rather than fighting it, Juilee and Nidhi create wearable art where each piece is dictated by time, temperature, and chance. Knot Gray sits at the intersection of storytelling and technique with garments that are thoughtful, expressive, and impossible to replicate.
